On August 29, “Conference of Traditional Chinese Medicines Scientific Supervision·2024” opened in Beijing. Zhao Junning, Deputy Commissioner of the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), Wang Zhiyong, Deputy Commissioner of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and officials of the National Healthcare Security Administration, the National Forestry and Grassland Administration and other ministries and relevant units delivered speeches.

　　Zhao Junning put forward that in recent years, the regulation on traditional Chinese medicines has reached a new level. We have made remarkable progress in the reform on the review and approval system of traditional Chinese medicines, strict regulation on traditional Chinese medicines’ quality, the development of scientific regulation on traditional Chinese medicines, and the construction of a regulatory system in line with the characteristics of traditional Chinese medicines. The NMPA will take both high-quality development and high-level safety into account, deepen the reform on the regulatory system for traditional Chinese medicines, accelerate the innovation of an excellent regulatory system for traditional Chinese medicines, and promote the inheritance, innovation and high-quality development of traditional Chinese medicines to a new high.

　　At the meeting, Zhao Junning made a keynote report on “accelerating the construction of an excellent regulatory system for traditional Chinese medicines”. Experts such as Tong Xiaolin, Huang Luqi, and Xiao Wei also made speeches. The meeting released the significant outcomes of TCMs regulation, the book “TCMs Regulatory Science”, “Blue Paper of TCMs Regulation·2023”, and “Regulatory Policies and Technical Guidances on Traditional Chinese Medicines in China (Bilingual Edition) Volume I”.
