The 2024 Seminar on the Research and Development of Pediatric Drugs Successfully Held in Beijing

  To promote innovation and high-quality development in pediatric drugs, enhance the exchange of technological innovation achievements, and fully advance the innovative research and development of valuable pediatric drugs and their transformation into results, the 2024 Seminar on the Research and Development of Pediatric Drugs, hosted by the China Center for Food and Drug International Exchange, successfully held in Beijing on November 20, 2024.

  The seminar emphasized the need to thoroughly implement the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, continuously uphold the “child-first development concept” advocated by the Central Committee of the Party and the State Council, fulfill national strategic requirements, strengthen collaborative cooperation with relevant units, promote high-quality development in children’s health, and vigorously advance innovative research and development of valuable pediatric drugs and their transformation into results.

  The seminar focused on topics such as comprehensive support for the “Healthy China-Child-First Strategy” outcomes, demand for medications for rare diseases in Chinese children and prospects for research and development, reports on clinical trials of pediatric drugs in China and future developments, plans for full adoption of ICH E11A pediatric extrapolation in China, as well as applications of new technologies and methods in pediatric drug innovation. The seminar invited experts from regulatory agencies, research institutions, renowned medical institutions, and industry associations, including the Center for Drug Evaluation of National Medical Products Administration, Chongqing University Children’s Hospital, Tianjin University Children’s Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine Affiliated Children’s Hospital, Shandong University. They shared insights from various perspectives. Representatives from relevant organizations and affiliated institutions of the National Medical Products Administration, Children’s Medical Center, academic institutions, and industry experts participated in this seminar.
