The 14th China International Medical Device Regulatory Forum opened in Wuhan on December 20th. Xu Jinghe, deputy commissioner of the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), and Wei Shengbin, deputy provincial governor of Hubei Province, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

　　Xu Jinghe pointed out that in recent years, the NMPA has comprehensively promoted to develop the rule of law system for medical device regulation and the regulatory science research and application, deepened the reform of the review and approval system, strengthened the whole-lifecycle quality control for the products, and enhanced the construction of the regulatory system and capacity. As a result, the quality and safety of medical devices has been steadily improving. In the future, the NMPA will thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Central Economic Work Conference, coordinate high-level safety and high-quality development, comprehensively deepen regulatory reforms, strive to create a globally competitive pharmaceutical innovation ecosystem, promote the high-quality innovative development of the medical device industry, and better protect and promote the health of the global public.
