An exchange event on cosmetics regulatory system between China and the European Union (EU) was held in Beijing on July 16. Xu Jinghe, deputy commissioner of China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), attended the meeting.
Representatives from the EU Delegation to China, Cosmetics Europe and the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China provided a comprehensive overview of the background and latest developments of the EU's cosmetics regulatory system, definition and classification of cosmetics, management of raw materials and ingredients, responsible entities and market access, as well as post-market regulation.
Participants from both sides discussed topics such as cosmetics regulation trends, management of cosmetics classification, the implementation of corporate responsibility and post-market inspections.
Xu stressed the importance of further deepening the China-EU regulatory dialogue mechanism, drawing on international best practices and accelerating the improvement of cosmetics regulatory framework, so as to promote China's transition from a major cosmetics manufacturing country to a leading one.
The event was also attended by officials from relevant departments and affiliated institutions of the NMPA, the Beijing Municipal Medical Products Administration, as well as representatives from academic institutions and industry associations.
